Today, Sunday, negotiations began between the leadership of the ground forces in the Indian and Chinese armies, on the situation in the border areas, and issues of disengagement between the two sides.
The Times of India newspaper reported that General Harender Singh, commander of the 14th Indian Army Corps, and General Liu Ling, commander of the Chinese Xinjiang Military Region, are presiding over the negotiations.
The newspaper said, this is the fifth such meeting. Negotiations are taking place at the Moldo border point, on the Chinese side of the actual border line separating the two countries.
According to the newspaper, the Indian side will seek the withdrawal of Chinese forces from the high mountain lake area of Panjung Tsu, and restore the situation to what it was, in this disputed area.
